In a world of dragons, both Ferra and Burn are outcasts. As an ice-breather, Ferra grew up knowing they would one day become a monster. By contrast, the fire-breather Burn is on the run from his domineering older brother. When circumstances force the two to work together to evade the dragons who hunt them, the pair forge a friendship that will take them on a cross-country quest under the shadow of a looming war.
